Avitale Manuka Honig wird ausschließlich in Neuseeland gewonnen. In den rauen und entlegenen Bergregionen des kleinen Landes am anderen Ende der Welt wächst die Pflanze, die in der Sprache der Ureinwohner auch Manuka genannt wird. Der Manuka-Baum, auch bekannt als Südseemyrte, wächst vor allem in den bergigen Regionen Neuseelands. Aus den Blüten des bis zu 4 Meter hohen Baumes gewinnen die Bienen einen einzigartigen Nektar, der in den Waben im Bienenstock eine spezielle Eigenschaft erhält. Schon die Maori, die Ureinwohner Neuseelands, schrieben dem Honig besondere Eigenschaften zu und nutzen ihn seit Jahrhunderten. Ein Grund dafür könnte der natürliche Inhaltsstoff Methylglyoxal, oft abgekürzt als „MGO“ sein, welcher antibakterielle Eigenschaften besitzt. 2006 kam das Forscherteam um Prof. Dr. Henle von der Technischen Universität Dresden durch aufwendige Untersuchungen zu dem Ergebnis, dass Manuka Honig einen besonders hohen Anteil des Zuckerabbauprodukts Methylglyoxal (MGO) besitzt. Auf Grund der besonderen Beschaffenheit des Nektars des Manuka-Baumes hat Manuka Honig im Vergleich zu anderen Honig-Sorten einen im Verhältnis sehr hohen MGO-Gehalt. Ob in Deinem Lieblingsmüsli, als Brotaufstrich oder zu einer Tasse Tee, genieße Manuka Honig so, wie Du es am liebsten magst. Nach Ankunft werden die Honige dann erneut vom Labor QSI in Bremen analysiert und zertifiziert. Laborgeprüft und zertifiziert Das Labor QSI in Bremen ist europaweit eines der renommiertesten und fortschrittlichsten Labore im Bereich der Lebensmittel- und Pharmaanalytik. Dort wird der Avitale Manuka Honig mittels der NMR- („Nuclear Magnetic Resonance“) Spektroskopie analysiert. Diese aufwendige Methode ermöglicht es, einen molekularen „Fingerabdruck“ des untersuchten Honigs abzubilden, der charakteristisch für Manuka Honig ist. Es ist gleichzeitig die derzeit leistungsfähigste Methode hinsichtlich der Verfälschungssicherheit, die der Markt zu bieten hat. Nachhaltig verantwortungsvoll Der Avitale Manuka Honig gelangt in Fässern nach Deutschland, die rund 300 kg Honig beinhalten. Wir verzichten bewusst darauf, unseren Honig bereits in Neuseeland abzufüllen. Dieser Schritt spart erheblichen Platz und natürlich auch Gewicht während des Transportes nach Europa und ist durch die niedrigeren Emissionen, im Vergleich zum Transport von fertig verpacktem Manuka Honig, ein wertvoller Beitrag zur Schonung unserer Umwelt. Für die Gläser, in die wir unseren Avitale Manuka Honig abfüllen, wird bis zu 70% Recyling Glas verwendet. Damit kann der Energieverbrauch und der CO2-Ausstoss im Vergleich zu Gläsern ohne Recycling-Anteil erheblich gesenkt werden.
