The Maldon Sea Salt Flakes are extracted by the British Maldon Sea Salt Company. It is the only company in England that produces salt. The English family business has been in the salt business since 1882. The high-quality Maldon Sea Salt is only available in limited quantities and is processed and sold by the Maldon family. The pyramid shaped salt crystals have their origin in the water of the English River Blackwater and are one of the best salt varieties on earth. In spring, the river absorbs abundant salt from the soils and stones of the river edges, making it one of the rivers with the highest salt content in the water. The river water is filtered and then heated in steel pans until only fine salt crystals remain. This creates an unrefined salt without additives of preservatives or other chemical additives. The taste of this precious hand-drawn salt from Maldon is unique, without bitter substances such as magnesium, which are washed out due to the salt boiling art. The aroma is significantly more intense in salt taste and at the same time also milder due to the washed out bitter substances compared to normal refined table salt. Only valuable seawater trace elements are included. In the end, wafer-thin salt crystals remain in the form of small flakes and pyramids, which can be easily rubbed between the fingers. The valuable Maldon Sea salt flakes are ideal for refining delicious salads with tomato, basil and cucumbers. It is also very tasty for refining grooved or short-fried steaks, with fish and seafood.
