Rope Senshoku works wonderfully for indigo-dyeing denim. This technique bundles the cotton yarn into rope-like strands and dipped into a dye bath. Air exposure oxidizes them, bringing out the characteristic indigo color. With this method, the dye doesn’t fully reach the yarn’s core—only the outer layer is dyed, which is known as “nakajiro” (white core). This is what gives Japanese denim its signature and distinct aging patterns and character over time. It reacts to your love! None of our rope-dyed denim headbands will have the same vibe or look after you’ve thoroughly worn and loved it.
