Welcome! I want us all to be safe and healthy. I make each mask by hand and use sewing techniques to maximize mask efficiency, breathability...and style!
Each mask comes with:
- One back-of-head tie with bead (assorted colors). No need for mask chains...the head tie keeps the mask handy hanging from your neck when not in use.
- One pair of ear elastics with beads for adjustment = custom fit included when you want to ditch the tie.
INCREASED FILERTING ABILITY
- Two layers of 100% Tightly Woven Pre-Shrunk Cotton (Quilter's cotton or better)
- Two layers of featherlight nonwoven filter material in between
- Olsen style mask contours under eyes to hit cheekbone for good seal against skin...when I take mine off, I have the pressure lines to prove it!
REDUCE HUMAN ERROR/IMPROVE FIT
- Contrasting color lining to quickly differentiate sides and avoid handling errors
- Customized Olsen style mask cups chin and curves outwards creating a breathing "pocket" between nose and mouth.
- Fabric does not sit on lips, so does not impede speech resulting in longer periods of comfortable wear.
WEAR THREE (3) WAYS
- HEAD TIE -- Pull tie loop toward you, put head through loop, place loop on nape (your mask should be hanging in front of you like eyeglasses). Pull both ties to desired tightness and tie. Slide the bead up and tie.
ON EAR -- Remove the long tie. Use the ear elastic and place behind ears.
EARSAVER -- Loop doubled tie from behind through each ear elastic and tie behind your head.
CARE
- Use mild liquid laundry cleaner.
- HANDWASH in warm, soapy water by letting it soak a few minutes, swishing around and then gently rubbing .
- Machine wash not recommended. The nose bridge piece may be damaged.
Honestly, I just soak mine; swish it around, gently rub it and rinse. It takes me all of 10 minutes!
If you have the option, lay it in direct sunlight (AKA natural UV light) for the day while you alternate with your clean mask.
UV Light Wand Cleaners - Will it work on a mask?
Yes, if you are careful with following the manufacturers instructions and super careful to get the light in any fabric folds. It only works if the fabric is mostly flat so anything on the surface can take a direct hit from the light for the amount of time instructed.
