Echinacea is also traditionally used in Western herbal medicine to support the immune system to fight illness, such as the symptoms of common colds, and relieve symptoms of mild tonsillitis. Plus, echinacea decreases the length of common colds.
Balloonflower
Traditionally used to relieve common cold symptoms in TCM.
Balloonflower is a popular herb in Chinese medicine where it’s traditionally used to reduce symptoms of the common cold including cough. It’s also traditionally used in TCM to clear mucus in the respiratory tract and enhance lung health.
Japanese catnip and forsythia
Japanese catnip is another well utilised herb in Chinese medicine, where it’s traditionally used to relieve sore throat, headaches, and mild fever when a symptom pattern known as external wind-cold exists.
Forsythia
