Few plants are as stylish and sophisticated as bonsai. These tiny trees are
part of a centuries-old Asian tradition of training trees into beautiful forms
that exhibit symmetry and balance. Although traditional Japanese bonsai live
outdoors, you can enjoy these little trees indoors—in your office, your
kitchen, your bedroom, or bathroom. These tiny trees add just the right touch
of dramatic decor to any indoor space. Since they come in various sizes they
fit perfectly on desks, tabletops and even shelves. Bonsai prefer a bright
spot indoors; place in a room where your bonsai will receive a significant
amount of indirect light during the day. Water when the soil is dry (about
once a week). If the container does not have holes, use approximately half a
cup of water, adjust as needed for your environment. Do not let the Bonsai sit
in overly soggy soil.
The height at shipping is approximately 10 inches tall, measured from the
bottom of the pot to the top of the plant. The Bonsai ships in premium,
3.75-inch ceramic planter topped with moss. Tohelp with water drainage, this
container does have a hole.
The Bonsai is a slow grower depending on its environment and is hardy in USDA
Zones 9 or higher. Give it a boost during the warm months of Spring and Summer
with a general-purpose fertilizer that is formulated for house plants. Follow
the instructions on the fertilizer package for the best use. When the plant
out grows the current container, it is time to repot. To repot the plant,
gently remove it from its current container and place it into a slightly
larger container. Fill in any empty spaces with new and fresh soil and water
thoroughly.
