Każdy zna Carcassonne, które nie ma jakiegoś większego tematu przewodniego. Ot układamy sobie rejon pełny miast i miasteczek posiekanych traktami i polami. Gracze wciskają tam swoje meeple, zamykając jakieś obszary i zdobywają za to punkty.
Carcassonne Karczmy i Katedry – co w pudełku?
Tym razem otwieramy dość małe, zgrabne pudełko. W jego wnętrznościach znajdziemy 18 nowych płytek terenu, 6 płytek punktowych, 8 pionków szarych podwładnych (szósty gracz może już się przygotowywać do rozgrywki) i 6 gigantów, czyli dużych pionków podwładnych (po jednym dla każdego gracza). Wszystkie elementy są znakomitej jakości i są idealnie pasującym uzupełnieniem gry.
W pudełku znajdziemy:

Karczmy i katedry - czyli o co tu właściwie chodzi?
Karczmy i katedry są pierwszym dodatkiem do gry Carcassonne i są źródłem udogodnień, jak i nowych wyzwań dla graczy. Jest to jeden z dodatków z kategorii must have o czym przekonacie się w poniżej.
Na początek należy podkreślić, że dodatki można dowolnie łączyć z grą podstawową. Im więcej graczy bierze udział w rozgrywce, tym lepiej wykorzystać więcej dodatków, bo inaczej gra za szybko dobiegnie końca i apetyty graczy na emocjonującą rozgrywkę nie zostaną zaspokojone. Niezależnie jakie dodatki zostaną użyte, to zasady wyjaśnione poniżej podstawy Carcassonne zawsze będą obowiązywać. Przed Wami zmiany jakie wprowadza dodatek Karczmy i katedry:
Carcassonne Karczmy i Katedry - co nowego i przebieg rozgrywki
1. Płytki z katedrą (2 sztuki) - jeśli znajdą się w mieście ukończonym przez gracza, to przy podliczaniu punktów otrzymuje on za każdą płytkę 3 punkty (w wersji podstawowej były to 2 pkt). Natomiast jeśli miasto z katedrą nie zostanie ukończone przed końcem gry nie dostaje się za nie żadnych punktów.
2. Płytki z karczmą nad jeziorem (6 sztuk) - jeśli taka płytka wejdzie w skład ukończonego traktu, to przy podliczaniu punktów za każdą płytkę tego traktu otrzymujemy 2 punkty (w wersji podstawowej był 1pkt za płytkę). Natomiast jeśli trakt nie zostanie ukończony przed końcem gry dzieje się to samo co przy katedrze, za taki trakt nie dostajemy żadnych punktów.
3. Płytki punktacji - w związku z tym, że trakcie rozgrywki punktów się trochę zdobywa, to nasze ludziki chodzą po planszy punktacji w kółko, a w trakcie zaciętej gry łatwo się pogubić w rachunkach przedreptanych kółek i tutaj z pomocą przychodzą dwustronne płytki punktacji. Jak przekroczymy 50 punktów kładziemy taką płytkę "50" do góry, a jak przekroczymy setkę obracamy ją na drugą stronę i już wiemy, że mamy co najmniej 100 punktów.
4. Szósty gracz chwyta za szare pionki i dołącza do gry, chyba więcej komentarza tu nie potrzeba.
5. Duży pionek podwładnego, powszechnie zwanego gigantem dla każdego gracza. Do rezerw każdego gracza dołącza gigant, z którym nie ma żartów. Zasada ich wystawiania jest taka sama jak pionków zwykłych (małych). Natomiast w chwili podliczania punktów gigant liczy się jak dwóch zwykłych podwładnych. Jednym słowem gigant = przewaga.

Wraz z nim możliwa jest rozgrywka na 6 graczy i nie gubimy się obiegając tor punktacji. Poza tym zyskujemy ciekawe płytki terenu wprowadzające więcej kombinowania i możliwości podbijania punktów. Co do gigantów liczy się każdy człowiek, szczególnie ten, dzięki któremu możemy zdobyć przewagę. Karczmy i katedry to jeden z dwóch dodatków, bez którego gra Carcassonne jest niepełna.
