As a fan of using oil diffusers in my home and having it smelling beautiful, this old school design, unique, diffuser caught my eye immediately. One of the downsides of diffusers is that you have to keep removing the water tank, hauling it to the kitchen and refilling it with water after a couple of hours. This is the first diffuser I've tried that doesn't require any water at all, extremely convenient!
The diffuser arrives beautifully boxed and presented. Both the presentation and design of the diffuser gives off an old, 1930's-1950's feel to it, really cool asthetic for the home. Two parts of the diffuser are made from glass, so it comes really well packaged to keep each part safe and secure during transport.
Upon arrival, the setup is really easy. The overall size of the diffuser isn't too big or bulky and fits nicely on a shelf or on top of a cupboard. It consists of a lovely, dark oak base where the included bulb is screwed in and the tall glass diffuser piece is inserted into. Lastly, a small glass funnel piece is included which you can pop onto the diffuser to have the "smoke" directed in a certain direction. The diffuser comes with a USB power supply cable which I also find handy as it means you can use it with a power bank if you want to place the diffuser away from a power supply.
The solid oak base has a silver knob which you use to power on the diffuser and turn on the light from the bulb. By clicking the knob, you can control the brightness of the light. On the highest level it's actually really bright and produces a lovely, warm toned glow. By turning the knob clockwise and anti clockwise, you can control the strength of the diffuser. The only flaw I found with the design is that the knob can be a bit fiddly but it's always fully functional.
To use the diffuser you simply need to add a few drops of essential oil or diffuser oil up to a certain level. Doesn't have to be a ton for it to function for quite a few hours. Once powered on, the diffuser makes a slight hissing sound which does get a bit louder if you turn it up really high. You can get rid of the noise by inserting the little glass funnel piece. It has a little hole in it which allows the "smoke" to come out more concentrated in whatever direction you choose, and decreases the hissing noise almost completely. You don't have to use it if you don't mind the noise.
Due to the fact there's no water being used in the diffuser, the "smoke" isn't as overwhelming and strong however it's still a visible stream just not a huge amount.
I was really pleasantly surprised by how much the scent fills the room without water. It's really strong especially on the highest level. It will engulf the room with a lovely smell. The oil inside of it lasts for ages, such a small amount and yet hours later it's still going.
The diffuser functions where after about 30 seconds, it will turn off automatically for maybe 15 seconds and then back on for 30 seconds, and so on. If it didn't do this, the fragrance would just be too strong so it functions perfectly. The instructions advise to turn it off after 2 hours because the oil is so concentrated without the water it could start giving you a headache etc. Not happened to me yet but still advised.
Overall it's a fantastic piece. Not only stylish, gorgeous design and aesthetic but highly convenient without the water. It looks fab in my living room, both unique and interesting. It produces a lovely strong scent that lasts for ages and highly convenient without having to add water. Obviously slightly pricey for a diffuser but it's honestly a lovely piece.
