1. To achieve an optimal result, you should first plan exactly where the STOMPGRIP is to be applied. Take enough time for this work.
2. Look for points where you can orient yourself during the application process. Mark these points with crepe tape or similar if necessary. The upper edge of the knee recess often provides a good reference point.
3. Note - if you are using a universal STOMPGRIP and want to cut it to size:
Create a template for the area you want to stick. It is best to create this from tracing paper and then transfer it to a piece of cardboard. The STOMPGRIP can be cut best with a craft knife or a sharp scissors. To achieve good durability of the cut pad, remove nodules that are directly on the edge of the STOMPGRIP with a craft knife and round off sharp corners.
Surface preparation - IMPORTANT!
1. For optimal adhesion, the surface to be bonded must be clean, dry and free of grease. Use the lint-free cloth with brake cleaner, alcohol or dish soap in warm water.
2. If you use a adhesion promoter (improves adhesion on surfaces):
Kink the primer stick at the marking. Apply the primer to the areas where the pads will be placed later. Make sure that the areas on the vehicle are pre-treated, on which the edges of the tank pads will adhere. The primer needs 24 hours to take effect. Only apply the pads after this time to ensure that the primer has taken effect sufficiently and is completely dry.
The surface must be completely dry and free of cleaning residues before application.
The surface of the vehicle must not be hotter than 60 degrees. The best results are achieved at approx. 20°.
Carefully pull off a piece of the backing paper and place the pad on the previously marked orientation points. Make sure not to touch the adhesive. Now slowly pull off the backing paper and rub along with your finger between the nodules so that no air bubbles can form. Start here where you have applied the STOMPGRIP first and work your way through to the backing paper. Only when all air bubbles have been removed in the newly applied area do you pull off the backing paper and continue with the application. Never pull off the entire backing paper at once. Press the edges firmly in the end. You should not load the STOMPGRIP directly after application, as the adhesive needs about 72 hours to build up full adhesive strength.
