For that reason, Ortphone created the subweight OP-1200-SPU for use with SPU in the SL-1200 series.
The tone arms installed in this series have been set to 2.0 inches (52 mm) between the needle tip to the head shell connector, and the wide range of weight that can handle larger (heavy) cartridges, making it compatible with the SPU series, and it is also easy to operate and set up, so it is said to be the best partner for many people to enjoy SPU. We don't want this subweight OP-1200-SPU to help you as an entrance to SPU sound.
[Precautions]
This product is impossible to use in the SL-1200 series, since the rear end of the armweight shaft is not pre-drilled for mounting screws. In addition, other SL series may not be mounted on tone arms that do not have M4 subweight mounting screw holes on the end of the weight shaft.
II. When attaching this product to a player other than the SL-1200 series except the first generation model, please refer to the specs data on the side of the device and use it in your own judgment.
III The counterweight included with the SL-1200 series tone arm may vary slightly in weight and size depending on the model. The weight of the cartridge listed on our published specifications is slightly allowed, but please only consider this as an estimate.

Features:
I. Ni-split precision brass cutting weight
The biggest feature of the OP-1200-SPU is that it can be used as a manufacturer subweight SH-1200W-S SPU weights (compatible with cartridge body and head shell body weight range up to 1.2 oz (30 g) to 1.2 oz (33 g) and CG25 65 series (37 g). In addition, since the weight itself is made of nibbed brass cutting, it can also be used with the SPU Synergy (G shell model, weight of 0.9 oz (28 g) in the SPU series. Among the nibbed weights only use the main weights only with the corresponding weight of 1.0 - 1.2 oz (28 - 32 g), including the head shell, the main weight is 1.2 - 1.3 oz (32 - 36 g) when combined with the main weight "large" (all are approximate). Please note that this product was developed in the SL-1200 series with the use of our SPU series in mind, but it can also be used with products that have the same weight as the SPU series (i.e. Ortphone MC Diamond, LH-10000, and their weight is about 1.2 - 1.2 oz (33 - 34 g).
II. The low profile OP-1200-SPU does not come into contact with the dust cover without the inner perimeter of the SL-1200 series dust cover, so it does not come into contact with the record playback while the SL-1200 series is lowered. It also became a disc-shaped subweight due to taking into consideration that the distance between the pivot section that serves as the working fulcrum of the tone arm and the weight center of gravity is extremely short.
Please note that this product does not touch the dust cover during normal music playback using SL-1200 series, but when the dust cover is installed or playing a plate with a small diameter of the label, the side of the product may come into contact with the side of the SL-1200 series dust cover when the needle tip is near the label surface, there is a risk of excessive load on the needle and record board. Therefore, if the recordboard groove cutting is near the inner circumference or you may trace the silent groove in the middle of the music without raising the needle immediately after the music playback, please always remove the dust cover.
