How to Use the Compass:
1.The map scale allows you to measure the corresponding distances on the ground from the map. If you measure the length between two points and then move the length to a straight line scale, you will get the distance between the two points in the field.
2.The other type of conversion is based on a numerical scale. The distance between two points is measured on the map with a straightedge and then converted using the formula. The formula for conversion is: distance in the field = length on the map x metric of the scale. If you want to measure the distance between two points on a curve, use a special odometer.
3.It is important to note that the distances calculated on the map are in fact only horizontal distances. If the slope in the field is large, the appropriate slope and bend corrections should also be added to the scale.
