The Skimmer Ground Pod II camera support is the ultimate nature photography accessory to assist in the creation of beautiful, ground-level photos of birds and other wildlife.
Constructed with super heavy-duty, reinforced, crush-proof injection-molded plastic, it is rugged yet lightweight, weighing less than 15 ounces and approximately 10″ in diameter and 1.5″ high. With a unique circular design, the Skimmer Ground Pod II makes it easy for you to slide and pan your camera equipment in any direction on the ground, even through mud, sand, and grass without scooping up earth, protecting equipment from grit and moisture. Plus your valuable equipment stays clean and dry, even in up to an inch and a half of water! The sides are turned out slightly to push sand and mud out and away, helping to keep debris from coming over the top. A protected area inside the plate can even be used to store teleconverters, extension tubes, and other incidentals for quick access while shooting.
Shooting with a Long Lens from a Vehicle
This camera ground pod is also a fantastic option for shooting with long lenses from a vehicle. Simply place the Skimmer Ground Pod II (with an optional C-12 Quick Release Clamp by Wimberley or your tripod head attached) on the SkimmerSack II Camera Beanbag Support for Wildlife Photography and enjoy panning, tilting, and the overall ease of motion and increased stability over a beanbag alone. Camera and Lens Compatibility
The Skimmer Ground Pod II was designed to be used with any lens or camera combination up to 600mm. Its wide mounting surface can accommodate virtually any ballhead or gimbal-style head fitting a standard 3/8″ tripod mount. It has been matched for use with low-profile lens feet when used with the C-12 Quick Release Clamp by Wimberley, as well as for the Wimberley Head II, without the need for modification or additional risers. However, an optional Riser Block RB-100 for Skimmer Ground Pod II fits perfectly and can be stacked when additional height is needed.
A 3/8″ stainless steel captive bolt is provided to attach your tripod head. Alternately, the Skimmer Ground Pod II can be purchased with the C-12 Quick Release Clamp by Wimberley, allowing you to mount dovetail lens or camera plates. Other quick release clamps may also fit.

How to Return an Item

Shipping Cost for Returns

If a return is sent back without prior contact or without our provided label, we cannot be held responsible for return shipping costs.
For items valued over $75, we recommend using a trackable shipping service or purchasing shipping insurance.
We cannot guarantee that we will receive your returned item if shipped independently.
Refund Processing
Once your return is received and inspected:
- In-store returns are refunded to the original form of payment or issued as a gift card.
- Mail-in returns using our prepaid label are refunded to the original payment method within 3–5 business days after we receive your return.

- An additional 3–10 business days for your bank to post the refund to your account.
