- Product Info: This plant is a live Rubus niveus, also known by the common name Mysore Raspberry. It is a starter-sized plant with an approximately 4-inch-diameter root zone and will be at least 6 to 8 inches tall. Starter-size plants are intended for a gardener to plant and grow to their finished mature size. Plants are guaranteed to arrive in good, viable, healthy condition but are not guaranteed after acceptance and planting in the new environment.
- Plant Info: The Mysore Raspberry is a large, sprawling, thorny bush that produces large, delicious raspberries with inconspicuous seeds in the late Spring and early Summer. It is very easy to grow and has the added attraction of being heat and humidity tolerant and requiring little chilling time to produce lucious medium sized berries in tropical and semi-tropical climates where many other types of Raspberries fail to thrive and/or produce little fruit.
- Pretty very pale lavender white to pale pink flowers begin to appear at the terminal ends of long arching canes in early winter and are followed by the berries. Peak fruit production occurs in late Spring to early Summer, with scattered flowers and fruit throughout the year. Mysore is also a very pretty plant with dense leaves in a silvered shade of pale green. The long canes can be tied to a trellis, fence or other support to incorporate as a edible landscape feature.
- Growth Habit: Large, sprawling. Berries are produces on new growth.
- Care and Maintenance: Plant in fertile, well draining soil. This plant grows large and has thorns, allow adequalte space to pick and tend. Feed a good quality slow release fertilizer in the early spring. Prune away old canes to the ground or main stalk after berries are finished to refresh growth for the next season. Mulch heavily ahead of first freeze.
- Light needs: Performs best in full sun. Plants will grow in light to moderate shade but fruit production is reduced in proportion to diminishing light levels. Plants become spindled and stretched. Acclimate young plants to their permanent full sun locations gradually to avoid drying out and burning.
- Light Needs: Best location is in full sun to lightly dappled shade. Young plants should be protected from direct hot sun and gradually acclimated to full sun as the mature and adapt. Plants typically need a season to grow and mature, and may not produces berries the first season.
- Climate: Mysore Raspberry will grow across a wide range of climates and is recommended for USDA Zones 7, 8, 9,10, 11. Generally well established plants freeze to the ground and resprout in the Spring in Zones 7, 8 and 9A. Elsewhere it is generally evergreen. Best practice is to plant young plants early in the season and protect from cold until they become well establish. In tropical Zones plants should be pruned heavily after harvest to prevent a dense thicket from forming.

The Mysore Raspberry can produce fruits throughout the year and have the largest yield shortly after their most prominent blooming period in December.
To have the largest fruit yield, water these bushes very regularly and supply a 4-8-4 or 4-7-5 NPK fertilizer every two to three weeks.
These raspberry bushes gained popularity in the 1950s, but slowly became less prominent as they require maintenance to remain productive for many years, but have regained popularity because of their low chill needs, pretty overall appearance, and fast growth
Trimming some of the Mysore Raspberry canes (limbs extending from the bush) to ground level is common and can limit thick growth that makes harvest difficult.
The canes and stalks are very thorny and care should be taken when handling.
