What is Echizen Lacquerware?
History of Echizen Lacquer ware
Echizen lacquer starts back to about 1,500 years ago, and it was said that the Prince of the time (the late heapon) commanded the painter to repair the damaged crown.
When the painter's refinished crown, he also served a bowl of black lacquer, the Prince liked the achievement.
So the Prince is attracted to the beauty of the glossy, encouraging lacquer production in the region and has led to the development of Echizen lacquerware until now.

Echizen Lacquer Production Process
Base
It starts with the creation of the original lacquer ware.
For round items, cut and assemble corners and use heat processing for synthetic resin materials. ?
Painting
Medium coat and medium polish and repeat top
The painter's technique produces uniform thickness and attractive luster.
In some cases of synthetic resins, the paint may be applied by spray. ?
Embellishments
Sower and Agarsmen add pictures and crests to the lacquer vessel.
The sowing painting is painted with lacquer by sowing gold powder, and the sink is drawn by putting lacquer into the groove that has been scraped with a chisel.
Introduction of sowing and deposits
Until the Meiji era, "Katayama Bowl" was produced with a robust yet simple lacquer ware.
New technology gradually began to introduce, and the technology of "sowede" from Kyoto and Wakashima, Echizen lacquer has a gorgeous design.

Tracking & Notifications
Every order is fully trackable. You will receive a tracking number via email once your order ships. If your order ships in multiple packages, each package will have its own tracking number. If you don’t receive a shipping confirmation immediately, your order is still being processed and will arrive within the estimated timeframe shown at checkout.

Order Changes & Cancellations

How to Return an Item

Shipping Cost for Returns
Please contact us before returning any item.
We may provide a return shipping label for your return. If the return is due to our error, such as receiving the wrong item, a damaged item, or a defective product, we will cover the return shipping cost.
If the return is due to the customer’s reason, such as ordering the wrong item, changing your mind, or no longer needing the item, the original shipping fee and the return label fee will be deducted from your refund amount.
If a return is sent back without prior contact or without using our provided label, we cannot be held responsible for any return shipping costs or delivery issues.
For items valued over $75, we recommend using a trackable shipping service or purchasing shipping insurance.
We cannot guarantee that we will receive your returned item if shipped independently.
Refund Processing
Once your return is received and inspected:
- In-store returns are refunded to the original form of payment or issued as a gift card.
- Mail-in returns using our prepaid label are refunded to the original payment method within 3–5 business days after we receive your return.
Please allow:

- An additional 3–10 business days for your bank to post the refund to your account.
