1. What is the mesh size?
Answer: Removes very fines 600 µm and smaller.
2. About how much coffee ends up getting thrown away?
Answer: It really depends on your grinder and the coarseness of your grind. I have a Oxo Conical Burr grinder, and I usually use a medium to medium/fine grind for my hand pour. I lose some where between 2 - 2.5 grams of coffee powder from the sieve. Coarser the grind lesser the powder.
