Everyone needs a Knight in Shining Armor. This piece will look great in your entry way, office, or living room. This statue can be set on the table or in the floor. The exquisite detail and craftsmanship will not go unnoticed. This statue is constructed of 22 gauge mild steel on a wood base. This full suit of armor stands approximately 27 inches tall and is polished to perfection. Replicating European suits of armor from the second half of the 15th century, this fully articulated suit of armor is made to one-third the scale of the original. Our miniature armor is made to the highest quality standards and is crafted from polished steel. Developed in the 15th Century these fully enclosed suits of armor (or harnesses as they were known) provided complete protection to the wearer. Throughout the 15th century the major production centers of armor were southern Germany and northern Italy, especially from Milan. These two styles differed with the German style generally referred to as gothic and the Italian as Milanese. The embossed ridges and fluting that typify amour of the Gothic style are generally absent in Milanese style amour. The Milanese full-harness exhibited a characteristic rounded and robust feel of armor. Armor of this nature includes smooth and large glancing surfaces in its construction, the theory being that these rounded surfaces would help to deflect blows from an opponents weapon. The joints provided protection while the well-fitted parts gave the knight complete freedom in the war. The warrior could fully move his arms or legs in battle. A full suit of plate amour would have consisted of a helmet, a gorget (or bevor), pauldrons , besagews, rondels, couters, vambraces, gauntlets, a cuirass (back and breastplate) with a fauld, tassets, cuisses, poleyns, greaves, and sabatons. It is hard to imagine that someone could be so agile while wearing so much metal. Full sized harness similar to our miniature can be found in Schloss (Castle) Churburg in the South Tyrol region of northern Italy. This miniature suit of armor comes complete with a miniature longsword and stands on a black lacquered wood base for easy display. This display will add a sense of grandeur to wherever it is placed.
