RS-232 was formerly the "USB of the past": a 9- or 25-pin D-Sub connector that transports data plus control signals. Maybe you remember old mice, modems or barcode scanners? Even today, some devices are equipped with RS-232 ports. However, modern users often use USB-RS-232 adapters.
If you want to use a microcontroller or computer to communicate with RS-232 devices, all you need is a serial port/UART and level converter. While UARTs work with logic levels at 0-3.3V or 0-5V, RS-232 requires +-6 to +-10V - so the signal can become negative! This is where our breakout comes into play: It reliably converts logic levels without extra components and offers a DE-9 socket for direct connections to your device.
The board runs with 3.3V power supply and logic, which many older chips can't, and supports all 8 data pins including signals such as RTS, CTS, DTR, DSR, DCD and RI.
In addition, there are two convenient status lines: "Valid" shows you when the device detects a connection, while "Off" allows you to delete all pins for energy saving.
Included are the pre-assembled board and a DE-9F RS-232 connection. We also include a bit of headers so you can solder the board to a breadboard in minutes.

Carriers
We primarily use USPS and UPS for U.S. deliveries. Items shipped from international warehouses may be handled by partner carriers depending on the country of origin.
Import Duties & Taxes
All import duties and taxes for goods imported into the United States are included in the product price. There are no hidden fees or additional charges at checkout.
Tracking & Notifications
Every order is fully trackable. You will receive a tracking number via email once your order ships. If your order ships in multiple packages, each package will have its own tracking number. If you don’t receive a shipping confirmation immediately, your order is still being processed and will arrive within the estimated timeframe shown at checkout.

Order Changes & Cancellations
If you need to modify or cancel an order, please contact our customer support team as soon as possible. Orders can only be canceled before they ship. Once shipped, cancellations are not possible, but you may request a return after the item is delivered.
