Note:
1. Turn off or turn off the main power circuit breaker before servicing the water heater. Supply water to the water heater. It is usually located in the electrical service panel.
2. Remove the cover and insulation to expose the heating element. Remove the thermostat and heating element plastic protective cover.
There must be no power.
4. Turn off the cold water supply to the heater. Lift and open temperature and pressure safety valves to relieve pressure. Turn on the nearby hot water faucet. Connect the garden hose to the drain valve at the bottom of the heater and open the drain valve. Drain water under items to be replaced. 5. Disconnect both leads from heating element. It is not necessary to mark the cables before removing them. Screw terminals.
6. Remove the element using a 1 1/2inch socket for threaded models and a 3/8inch socket for four bolt models.
7. Make sure the surfaces of the new mating flange and the new element flange are clean. With the new heating element gasket in place, install the heating element. Make a good adjustment.
8. Reconnect the two leads. It does not matter which color wire is plugged into which screw terminal.
9. Close the temperature and pressure safety valves. Open the shutoff valve on the cold water inlet line. You will hear the heater begin to fill. Close the faucet only when a steady stream of water (free of air) is flowing from the faucet (opened in step 4). Failure to properly fill the tank may result in damage to the element.
10. Double check to make sure the wiring is correct and tight. Check for leaks around the heating element. If necessary, tighten a little more.
11. Reinstall the plastic protective cover on the thermostat and heating element.
12. Restore power to the water heater. Cycle test water heater to ensure it is working properly.
13. Replace insulation and cover.

Shipping Cost for Returns

Refund Processing
